Minutes of Meeting Pre-Fellowship started at 6.30 p.m. at the Poona Club — Conference Hall 1, where many members interacted on various topics. President Uday Dharmadhikari called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. and welcomed all members, guests, and visiting Rotarians. President Uday thanked Rtn. Dr. Nitin Desai, CMD — Desai Brothers Limited, for his generous contributions of Rs. 3 crores for Rotary India CSR Grant — 11,000 Cataract Surgeries Project. This contribution is the highest so far (at the India level). With this contribution, Rtn. Nitin will achieve Arch Klumph Society Level Two (Chair Circle) recognition. President Uday thanked Rtn. PP Madhu Rathi, Rtn. Jignesh Patel, Rtn. Rakesh Makhija, and Rtn. Giri Sakhrani for their generous contributions towards RCPC Projects. President Uday also thanked IGW India Technologies Pvt Ltd for generous CSR contributions towards RCPC Projects. We wished happy birthday to Rtn. Dr. Shona Nag and Mr. Sanil Rajpal. We wished happy wedding anniversary to Rtn. Lalit and R’Ann Vidhu Vij, and Rtn. Kanwal and R’Ann Urvashi Guliani. The evening was dedicated to honouring those who have contributed to the upliftment of the underprivileged section of society, starting with Rtn. Nitin Desai, who was recently conferred the 33rd Punyabhushan Award by the Punyabhushan Foundation for his exceptional contribution to social causes and putting Pune on the global map. The introduction of Rtn. Nitin was done by Rtn. Vipen Malhotra. The second part of the evening’s program was the presentation of Vocational Awards, a special event at which RCPC felicitates non-Rotarians who give their best for society without any expectations of recognition for what they do. We as Rotarians appreciate their efforts to serve society and felicitate them so that it can become an inspiration for others. The six Real-Life Heroes felicitated by RCPC this year were Mr. Raj Deshmukh, for his environmental efforts for river and coastal clean-up; Ms. Ashlesha Onawale, for her work to develop skills for underprivileged sections of society; Mr. Rajendra Nahar, for rehabilitation of intellectually disabled persons; Ms. Jyoti Desraj Pillay, for medical social work; Ms. Devna Arora, for wildlife conservation and rehabilitation (details on http://www.rehabbersden.org); and Ms. Medha Bhagwan Gaikwad, for services in disease prevention and assistance to patients at Sahyadri Superspecialty Hospital. Rtn. Arun Shroff introduced the awardees and Rtn. Nitin Desai felicitated them. The evening concluded with interaction with children who have recovered from cancer and their parents. Ms. Jyoti Pillay introduced the children and their parents and Rtn. PP Narayandas Rathi felicitated the children.
