| Minutes of Meeting | RCPC Members Spin a Yarn “The Art of Storytelling” was the theme of an enjoyable, interactive evening on August 26, 2023, during which our guest speaker encouraged RCPC members to tell tales. Rtn. Madhvi Kshettry introduced the evening’s speaker, Mr. Arvind Mittal, who has more than 30 years’ experience as a theatre actor, director, and scriptwriter and has performed in more than 200 shows in India. Arvind is also an author, and has written and published 5 books for children. After an interesting presentation providing pointers for aspiring storytellers, Arvind put his theories into practice, urging RCPC members to spin a yarn, first with each person contributing just one word to the story, and then widening the scope with each person adding one sentence to the story. The exercise revealed that RCPC members have creative imaginations and a good sense of humour. The evening began on a sombre note as members observed a minute’s silence to mark the sad demise of our office assistant Hari Sarvgaud’s mother, who passed away on August 20, 2023. President Ajay Chitnis gave a brief update on a visit to the site of the 14 Trees Foundation and then apprised members of the trustees who will oversee the RCPC Charity Trust this year. Continuing the series of reminiscences by Past Presidents, this week it was Rtn. PP Abhay Shah’s turn to look back on his year in office from 1994–95, during which the Rotary theme was “Be a Friend.” Abhay highlighted two major projects undertaken during his tenure — setting up of a primary health centre near Latur, following the devastating earthquake that shook the district in 1994 and another project, chaired by Rtn. Suhas Merchant, to develop a jogging park at the Bund Garden Park. We offered birthday greetings to Dr. Shashikant Dudhgaonkar, R’Ann Aniila Pugalia, Rtn. Ramesh Arora, Rtn. Rahul Sahai, and Rtn. Behzad Randeria. We wished happy wedding anniversary to Rtn. Pravin and R’Ann Monica Nadkarni, and to Rtn. PP Parmod and R’Ann Ranjana Bhalla. The evening ended on a cheery note with the Happy Hours Fellowship. |
