Minutes of Meeting | We gathered for our meeting on Zoom, and the evening began on a sombre note. President Brigadier PKM Raja started by offering condolences for the passing of former Rtn Col Sundar Gidwani. IPP Rtn. Cmde Ajay Chitnis announced a tribute meeting in honour of the late former Rtn Cmde Rajan Vir, founder president of the Indian Maritime Foundation. This tribute is scheduled to take place on August 7th at the Pune Club Conference Hall. In a moment of pride, our club was celebrated for receiving several prestigious awards. We were honoured with the 'Best Club' - Platinum Rank 2, and Rtn. IPP Ajay Chitnis was recognized as the Best President - Gold Rank. Our efforts in various projects were acknowledged, from the Antulay Nagar Project under the Happy Village initiative to the impactful DEI service project of donating sports wheelchairs. Special recognition went to Rtn. PP Ravi Kapoor for his exceptional support in CSR and Global Grants. District 3131's Project Chhatra Chhaya was highlighted, with R’Ann Neelam Mehrotra's participation in distributing umbrellas in Viman Nagar and near Yerwada Jail. This initiative was much appreciated given the season's rains. We also celebrated the spirit of giving, with Rtn. Yogesh and R’Ann Hina Shah generously donating $1000 to TRF - APF. President Brigadier PKM Raja expressed gratitude to all the members who contributed towards TRF, APF, and the literacy project. The club took a moment to celebrate the birthdays of Rtn. PP Prakash Gurbaxani, R’Ann Gaury Mohile, Rtn. PP Jinendra Munot, Rtn. Giri Sakhrani, Rtn. Dr. Arti Khatter, R’Ann Disha Patel, and R’Ann Deepa Dharane. We also wished a happy marriage anniversary to Rtn. Baakir and R’Ann Razia Baker. Our guest speaker, Dr. Kunal Bansal, took us through an enlightening session on osteoporosis. He debunked common myths and shed light on the prevalence, risk factors, and treatment options for this progressive disease. Dr. Kunal emphasized that osteoporosis is not just a condition affecting the elderly and highlighted the importance of bone density measurements for diagnosis. He spoke passionately about the significance of a calcium-rich diet and regular weight-bearing exercises in preventing osteoporosis. Dr. Kunal also answered questions from members, clarifying symptoms and testing procedures, and stressing the need for a collaborative approach among healthcare professionals in managing osteoporosis. His insights were invaluable, and Brigadier Raja thanked him, presenting a certificate and memento as tokens of our appreciation. There was an announcement of a fundraising event for August 10, 2024, but due to unforeseen circumstances it has been rescheduled to August 31. The next meeting will be held on August 10, 2024, at the Poona Club. The topic for the session will be "Persons with Disability (PwD) – Chance not Charity" by Dr. Sonam Kapse. We also collected Rs. 500 for the 'End Polio' initiative last week. |
