Minutes of Meeting | Our meeting this past week was both reflective and inspiring. We began on a solemn note as President PKM Raja extended heartfelt condolences to the family of former Rtn. Prasanta Chaudhury for his passing away on August 15th. A minute of silence was observed in his memory. Rtn. PP Dr. Aruna Umranikar and Rtn PP Ravi Kapoor paid tributes to the departed soul, reminding us of the strength and support within our community. From reflection, we moved into action as President Raja updated us on our recent service activities. The Second Eye Check-Up Camp of the Rotary year took place on August 9th at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose School in Yerawada. This event, organized by the Rotary Club of Pune Central in collaboration with the Community Eye Care Foundation, saw a turnout of 239 students. Out of these, 37 were identified as needing glasses, and 30 were referred for further evaluation. The camp also extended its services to the school staff, with 25 members getting their eyes checked and 4 receiving reading glasses. The efforts of Rtn. Oni and R’Ann Nafisa Kakajiwala, who were present throughout the camp, were greatly appreciated. As we look forward to more service activities, President Raja extended an invitation to all Rotarians and their spouses to join the tree plantation drive on Sunday, August 18th at 11 a.m at the Army Institute of Physical Training (AIPT), Pune. This initiative is a collaboration between our club and 14 other Rotary clubs of Pune District and it promises to be a meaningful contribution to the environment. Another noteworthy project is our ongoing collaboration with IGW India Technologies Pvt. Limited. This marks our 6th partnership with IGW, and this time, the focus is on constructing two classrooms at Charholi Village Government School. The school serves 350 students from poor and tribal families, offering education up to the 7th grade. On August 14th, President Raja, along with Director CSR Rtn PP Arvind Saraf, Rtn. Rakesh Makhija, Director Service Projects Rtn. Shireesh Nadkar and Rtn. Dr. Ramesh Sachdeva, visited the IGW plant. There, they met with IGW’s team, led by MD Vikas Dudeja, who shared their vision and commitment to this CSR project. This week The Club celebrated Birthdays of Rtn. PP Amitabha Mukhopadhyay, Rtn. PP Krishan Jhunjhunwala, R’Ann Dr. Sadhana Lachyan, Rtn. Ashish Goyal, Rtn. Madhvi Kshettry, R’Ann Dr. Sheila Bhave and Anniversary of Rtn. Oni and R’Ann Nafisa Kakajiwala Our guest speaker for the evening, Ms. Zareen Siddique, was welcomed with great enthusiasm. Zareen, a fitness expert with over 250k Instagram followers, captivated us with her talk on "Nutrition & Fitness." She dispelled common myths about diet and exercise, emphasizing the importance of regular physical activity and balanced nutrition. Her insights on mental well-being and the role of protein in our diets resonated with many, leading to a lively Q&A session. The members were eager to learn and left with actionable advice to incorporate into their daily lives. The evening concluded on a high note with an IceBreaker fellowship sponsored by Rtn. PP Raja Kharadkar. It was the perfect ending to a night filled with learning, engagement, and camaraderie. Looking ahead, our next meeting is on August 24, 2024 at the Poona Club Conference Hall 1 at 6:30 PM where it promises to be a fun and competitive evening as we hold a special program led by Rtn. Raman Nanda’s Sub Group. We’re also looking forward to the competition for the title of Mr. RCPC, which is sure to be an exciting event. Until then, let's continue our week with the spirit of service, fun, and fellowship. |
