Cataract and corneal opacity are two of the causes of blindness. The aim of this project is to prevent/cure such blindness through surgeries. This year, 100 cataract surgeries and 100 corneal transplant surgeries have been performed/planned for economically backward patients in and around Pune. In cataract surgery, blindness is prevented/cured by inserting an artificial lens in the eye. In corneal transplant, the patient’s cornea is transplanted with a new cornea from a donor. The surgeries are free for the beneficiaries. We do provide lodging & boarding for two days for pre and post operational care This has been an ongoing project of our club for about 20 years, during which over 7000+ patients have benefited.
