Xmas came good twelve days earlier, on 13th December, for our club this year. Like every year, PP Munir Chinoy, PP Manjulla Viswanathan and Rtn. Anil Bora arranged Xmas fun-party for differently abled children with support of Inner Wheel Club. Around 250 children enjoyed music, dancing, puppet show, magic show and what not. We had two Santas and one of them was Rtn. Shashi Talwar. Children really enjoyed the evening! Students from RYE also participated and enjoyed the event. But think of it, Rotarians like us can be Santa Claus each day of the year. If Santa can make children happy for a day; we have abilities to make them happy each day by giving the gift of Rotary. Suddenly, “be your own Santa Claus” pops into my head. “What the heck?” I said to myself. “I’m Santa Claus and so is every member of RCPC” All kinds of cool things can result from this attitude: Number 1: Christmas for me is no longer just December 25. It’s any day I choose it. Number 2: I can change any mood by buying a student in a school a nice gift he can use. Number 2.5: I’m celebrating “making a difference” to someone’s life In the spirit of season of giving, in the spirit of passing down messages that can affect others forever, and of course, in the spirit of making a difference, I’m urging you to become your own Santa Claus. NOTE: For those of you fortunate enough to be parents, there’s not much of a transition involved, because for children, young and old, you already are Santa Claus. It sounds kind of selfish, I know, but let me assure you that the real Santa Claus (although I have never met him personally) surrounds himself with all kinds of fun stuff--way before he gives it away to all. Count your blessings. Naughty or nice, everyone has blessings. Far fewer count them. Far fewer even recognize that they are the key to personal fulfillment. O.K. Santa, I’ve given you the challenge, now your job is put the suit on and live the part. Now is the best time to try it because no one will know.
