ZF Steering Gear (India) Limited, the CSR donor company has its manufacturing facility in Vadu Budruk, a rural area near Pune. The company was established in 1981 and is a pioneer in the manufacture and supply of integral hydraulic power steering systems in India. The project envisages supporting students of two primary and one secondary school in Vadu Budruk area. About 1,000 students & 50 teachers will benefit directly in each academic year. These schools currently lack proper Classroom infrastructure, learning infrastructure and sanitation infrastructure i.e. benches, Green boards, computer lab, science lab equipment, library, e-learning kits, classroom furniture, Handwash Stations etc. Students of these schools are from under-privileged sections of the local community. The project also envisages providing pedagogic training and a new program "Teach with Technology" to all teachers. The specific needs of each school have been identified through field visits jointly carried out by Rotarians of the host club and officials of the donor company. The corporate donor and host club have jointly prepared the list and specification of the items to be purchased, have identified and finalized the vendors. The International Sponsor Club is expected to visit the schools to help in monitoring. As part of a long term strategic initiative, RCPC and the CSR donor company have decided to focus attention and efforts in upgrading the classroom, learning and sanitation facilities in these three schools progressively over the next two years. Our goal is to bring the infrastructure and facilities in these schools to a level equal to 75%~80% of the level prevailing in urban schools.
