Surya Hospital Pvt Ltd is fully dedicated to serve needy and poor patients. Having signed up with schemes run by the Government of India and the State Government, the hospital now provides free treatment to patients from the economically weaker sections on a charitable basis. It has already started performing various types of surgeries and treatments under the Government medical reimbursement schemes. The hospital frequently receives patients suffering from varying degrees of kidney failure and needing Haemodialysis treatment on a repetitive basis. However, such patients are turned away or diverted to other hospitals due to the absence of a facility in Surya hospital to provide Haemodialysis treatment. The Rotary Club of Pune Central is setting up a Dialysis centre at this Hospital, for which this Global grant application is being made. Diabetes driven renal failures are growing by 5% ~ 7% per annum. Based on discussion with three doctors specializing in renal Disease, our rough estimate is that there are about 3,500-4,000 patients in Pune city who need dialysis treatment routinely. Besides, all facilities presently providing Dialysis service in Pune offer on commercial basis and not on charity. This project will help to increase dialysis treatment capacity available in the city of Pune, thereby, addressing the need of patients suffering from renal failure, particularly from the economically weaker segment of society.
