In India 240,000 children are born every year with Congenital Heart Disease (CHD). Though CHD is detectable & fully treatable, lack of timely diagnosis & affordable treatment leads to high mortality percentage within 5 years of birth. One of the main causes of CHD is inadequate maternal nutrition. RC Pune Central in association with RC Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA, Heart to Heart Foundation, India and Shri Satya Sai Health and Education Trust (which operates the Shri Satya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital, Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, - the single referral center for CHD in Maharashtra) plan to carry out a Global Grant projects at a total cost of USD 98,000 which covered 40 pediatric heart surgeries and provide nutrition to 246 pregnant mothers.
