Rotary Club of Khadki, in association with Rotary Club of Pune Central, has planned to involve its Interactors in the Paper Bag Project, encompassing two Rotary causes — protecting the environment and growing local economies. The three components of this project are 1) to create awareness about and need for using paper bags 2) to teach skills for making paper bags, and 3) to support them and their community to take up the manufacture of these bags as an economic activity. To support us in our endeavour, on September 22, 2022, we invited Rtn. Surendra Shroff from RC Pune Central to hold an awareness lecture for 59 Interactors of Chetan Dattaji Gaikwad English Medium School, Alegaonkar High School, and GMI Girls High School. The workshop for making paper bags is scheduled after the students return from Diwali break. Rtn. Surendra has very graciously agreed to provide further training and support for this project. RC Khadki thanked Rtn Surendra Shroff for giving an inspiring and engaging talk to our “Green Ambassadors” about the advantage of making paper bags, not only for a cleaner environment but also as a viable skill to acquire to become an entrepreneur.
