Noted industrialist and philanthropist Surendra Shroff swept into PRC (Paraplegic Rehabilitation Centre, Khadki) at 5.30 pm on the 20th of July 2015, to hold an Orientation Newspaper Bag-making Program. Personally, I think of him as 'The Newspaper Bag Magician' - he has designed more than 30 types of STURDY bags using the humble re-cycled newspaper... and his vast network of Trainers and home-based manufacturers, have kept more than 1 Crore plastic bags off the streets!!! For over 2 hours, Shroff-ji enthusiastically demonstrated various bags, and chatted animatedly with the jawans, motivating them to learn this simple technique and turn manufacturers, which would not only net them an income, but make them active participants in the Swachh Bharat program.
