Human papillomavirus (HPV) causes most cervical cancers. One women dies every seven minutes due to this cancer in India. HPV vaccine prevents these cancers. HPV infection is most common in teens in their early 20s, hence HPV vaccine is recommended for females in that age group. In this project, we administered HPV vaccine to 44 female students at Garade village school. This vaccine is also effective for vulvar and vaginal cancers and genital warts. Three doses are required to be administered over 6 months. This has been an ongoing project for the last 3 years.
