Team of about 65 UK based employees from Jaguar Land Rover and Tata Management Training Centre, Pune visited the Anjuman Islam Peer Mohamed High School in Pune. The Rotary Club of Pune Central has an Interact Club at this school which is more than 25 years in existence. Over 3500 students study in the school. As a part of their Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, the JLR team painted the walls of the school classrooms including the ceiling and donated library racks that were assembled by the JLR team. The team built 7 racks with 5 shelves each. This simple, yet strenuous activity, made a big difference to the day to life of the children as it created a pleasant learning environment and a sense of pride amongst the children studying. As one of the senior members said, “Giving a cheque or donating money is the easier thing to do, but for 60 volunteers to physically sweat it out for underprivileged children and create a facility that can be used by children gave us a great sense of pride and satisfaction”
