Due to insufficient rainfall for the past 2 years, several talukas of Pune District are facing acute water shortage and have been declared drought affected by the state government. RCP Central in partnership with RC Bhigwan and other Clubs have launched a project to de-silt and deepen existing community water bodies (tanks and ponds) to enhance the water storage capacity. Rotary is paying the hiring charges of JCB Machines for excavation work. The diesel consumption of the excavators is being paid by Bharatiya Jain Sanghatana (BJS). RCPC has contributed Rs. 3 lakhs which will felicitate excavation in 54,000 cubic .mtrs. of earth over an area of 108 acres spread across 3 villages of Indapur Taluka. The total water storage capacity will be increased by 5.4 lakh ltrs. This will cover the requirements for drinking and irrigation. The total number of beneficiaries 10,000 villagers.
