The Boards of Directors of the Interact Club and Early Act Club were installed on 10th December, 2019 at the Saayudh School for Deaf and Mute children, Hadapsar in the presence of - • Rtn. Vanita Bajaj, Director Youth Services • Rtn. Anil Bora • Rtn. IPP Ravi Kapoor This school is managed by the same organization that runs the Bharari school on Bhandarkar Road where RCPC already has a successfully operating Interact Club. Set up in 1973, the school currently has about 100 children spread across nursery to class 7. About 56% of the students are girls. The students are from semi-rural, daily wage earner families living in areas like Hadapsar, Loni, Theur, Kharadi, Wagholi etc. The Interact club in this school was first established about 3 years ago by RC Pune Magarpatta City. Thereafter, annual installation of the Interact Club's BoD was not done by the concerned RC. Nevertheless, the activities of the Interact Club continued under the guidance of the school principal (Mrs. Mughda Jagtap) who had previously served in the Bhandarkar Road branch and was therefore familiar with the operations. At the request of the principal, RCPC took over the sponsorship of the Interact Club from RCP Magarpatta City. Rtn. Anil Bora graciously agreed to take this Interact Club under his wings. After the installation ceremony, reports were presented on the activities carried out last year and plans for the current year until February 2020. While the Teacher-in-charge read out the reports, the concerned President repeated the same in sign language for the benefit of the other students. Next on the agenda was the inauguration of the 8-station Sanako Language Lab established at this school by RCPC. This is the third lab after the ones installed at Bharari School and Jagruti school. Installation of these labs was facilitated by the generous donations of Rs.6.15 lakhs committed by the various members and R'Anns A unique feature of the Language Lab in this school (and in the one at Bharari) is that the content is in sign language conforming to Indian and American standards. Each station has a video camera that records the student's performance for playback and review. Teachers also record classroom sessions which the students can review. All in all, it was an emotionally gratifying experience to see the enthusiasm, confidence and excitement of the students. Both, time and money well spent by RCPC!!
